You Can Help!

As a Seniors First Meals on Wheels volunteer, you’re doing much more than delivering meals. You’re bringing companionship and a friendly smile to seniors, as well as providing a vital connection to their community. As a volunteer, you play a crucial role in ensuring that seniors receive not only food but also the warmth that comes from human interaction.

Volunteer Today

Most volunteers deliver one morning a week and routes typically take 60 — 90 minutes. Meal delivery volunteers can start by simply completing our online application.

For many seniors, our volunteers are their only daily contact. So beyond delivering hot meals, you help ensure seniors know they’re not alone and never forgotten.
Much of our Meals on Wheels funding is generated locally and we could not operate without it.

Meal Delivery Routes

More than 300 volunteers are needed in order to deliver more than 4,000 meals to recipients each week in the greater Orlando area. That’s 900–1,100 meals delivered each day with most volunteers delivering meals one day a week.

Commitment

Most routes take approximately 90 minutes to complete with an average of 10 delivery stops.
Dates: Monday – Friday
Times: 9 am-12 pm

Volunteers generously use their own transportation and gas. A valid driver’s license is required, and all volunteers must also complete a training class and pass a background screening.

Meal Pick-up Sites

Our Meals on Wheels program has 10 designated meal pick-up sites that serve multiple meal delivery routes across Orange County, Florida. Each site is designed to be a hub for volunteers and their surrounding meal delivery routes.

Group Opportunities

Adopt-A-Route is a simple way for groups to volunteer together. Seniors First will assign your organization a single meal delivery route, one day a week. Your group leader will coordinate your group’s participation. Depending on the number of volunteers, many groups find their members only deliver once or twice a year.
